Doing your first wedding dance at your wedding disco may sound a bit scary. From our experience you don't have to be a great dancer...It's just an "ahhhhh" moment where your friends want to get some nice photos. It really is nothing to worry about, and it can be a lot of fun thinking of a great record to start married life to.
Have a look at some of our suggestions and don't forget to see our Wedding DJ page too...
Aerosmith - I Don't Want To Miss A Thing.
This track was a hit in 1998 and has become a firm favourite as a first dance at weddings
Some of the lyrics are on the right and they are certainly perfect for your first wedding dance.
It certainly is a crowd pleaser but it's just up to you whether you want to pick something a little more original.
Bryan Adams - Everything I Do
This really is a beautiful song. It was number one for ever at the start of the 90's and the good news it that because radio stations have stopped over playing it it sounds really good today.
The album version is over 6 minutes long but the radio edit just over 4 minutes. It's up to you which version you pick. With plenty of people wanting to take photos we think you may get away with the album version. Ahhhhhhhh!!!!.

Queen - You're My Best Friend
What can you say about Queen records? Total quality...and every time it comes on the pub juke box everybody is going to think of your wedding!
It's a lovely sentiment and it's a great song if you were childhood sweethearts or if you were friends before you were lovers...
You really don't need to be a great dancer with this one...Just turn around a bit and don't stand on her dress!!!

Pharrell Williams - Happy
We have been asked for "Happy" a number of times as a first dance. It's a brilliant dance record that gets everyone going...and that is a problem...cos you're the only people meant to be dancing!!!
Everyone loves dancing to this and it sets the dancefloor alight so what we always suggest is let's make this the first record we play AFTER your first dance to get the party started.

Joe Cocker & Jennifer Warnes- Up Where We Belong
Richard Gere balked at shooting the ending of the film Officer & a Gentleman, in which Zack arrives at Paula's factory wearing his naval dress whites and carries her off the factory floor. He thought that wouldn't work because it was too sentimental...What a plonker!!!
All together now...
"Love lifts us up where we belong...Where the eagles cry on a mountain high"
If groom changes into naval fancy dress. First dance rating: 100 out of 10
Madonna - Crazy For You
Our rating 1985 out of 10
The Ordinary Boys - I Luv U
Once upon a time a bride and groom came to us and wanted this as their first dance. It was a very personal song to them but we didn't feel it was well known enough but they really wanted it....So we did it..They walked onto the dance floor, looked into each others eyes and it was pure wedding disco magic. So don't be afraid to be different!!

Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are
A very popular first wedding first dance in recent years. A hit in 2011 so be sure not to confuse it with the Billy Joel song of the same name from 1977. Both great songs but could not be more different!
Ideal for those wanting to set the tone for modern music all night
Billy Joel - Just The way You Are
Don't let your wedding DJ confuse this with the Bruno Mars song of the same name!!!
This is not only a lovely first wedding dance song but also a great song for a wedding anniversary.
This will work really well with an older audience. Really nice slightly upbeat song that still manages to sound really romantic and classy without being to pacy.
Gladys Knight & The Pips - You're The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me.
The Motown sound is classy and everlasting and for a first wedding dance it doesn't get much better than Gladys Knight.
This track could also make a great father and daughter dance too if that is something you are planning.
This was a hit in 1974 for Gladys Knight but the song is actualy a cover of the country music hit by Ray Price which was recorded in 1973....so if you prefer country music there is another option for you.

McFadden & Whitehead -
Ain't No Stopping Us Now
This is a much faster first dance and it's a disco classic. Pretty much every other first wedding dance song on this page will work for you even if you can't really dance....
however...to make this work you will both need to practice.
Learning dance moves can add to the pressure so not for everyone.
Eric & Ernie - Bring Me Sunshine
A really cool LAST wedding dance especially for an older couple would be Eric & Ernie's "Bring Me Sunshine" as they skip off into the distance on their honeymoon...
"Bring me Sunshine, in your smile,
Bring me Laughter, all the while,
In this world where we live, there should be more happiness,
So much joy you can give, to each brand new bright tomorrow.."
